The use of the mouse on a daily basis is an important part when it comes to ergonomics. In this sense, today we analyze the wireless mouse MUSW-ERGO-01 from Gembird. This is an ergonomic 6-Button device, which performs its role by increasing performance and decreasing fatigue.
We will meet a mouse with a different design, but that brings natural usability minimizing tension in the arm, wrist and hand.
If we are going to talk about rats, then we are going to discuss what really matters. Thus, we have the quality of the materials, the precision of the sensor, the connection and the ergonomics. Today the focus is on ergonomics, but without losing the other main requirements. Let's go to analysis to Gembird's MUSW-ERGO-01, a comfortable and precise accessory, ideal for professional jobs.
Design and Dimensions
The 6 Button Ergonomic Wireless Gembird Mouse is quite tall, especially compared to any traditional mouse. Its measures, 95 x 65 x 36 mm, are synonymous with renewing the concept of natural use of the mouse. This is different.
With a vertical shape, it requires the user to use it in that verticality, as if assuming a handshake position.
In that sense, when using the mouse, it places our hand almost perpendicular to the table surface. As a result, there is little twisting of the wrist while holding this device.
In addition, for those who already suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, this mouse will completely eliminate any movement of the wrist, since it does not need the twist to make the movements, they are performed with the push of the entire arm.
The habit makes the monk …
It was not the first time that we got used to maneuvering the cursor. Like most vertical mice, it takes some getting used to operating the Ergonomic Wireless Gembird.
Managing traditional buttons requires the brain to realize that your hand is operating sideways, facing the table. The fingers, will have to be disciplined not to exchange the touches. It takes minutes for the brain to calibrate the new way of using this mouse.
After several hours and a few days of using it, we feel that the way has changed. However, the old maxim is applied, first it becomes strange then it entrenches itself. We already have more sensitivity to push the hand completely, without twisting and backing up with smooth movements of the entire arm. It's simple because we don't feel any stress, after all we are talking about a mouse that weighs about 90 grams.
The MUSW-ERGO-01 Mouse is made essentially of plastic. In fact, considering the price, the touch of the materials was a pleasant surprise, it gives the appearance of a premium structure. The surface is matte, although it has a slippery feel, but does not escape the hand. However, it could have a touch of rubber in its sharp contours.
The main buttons are also nice to touch. The thumb operating buttons, on the other hand, have a more modest look and feel, but they do not fail. As for the base, it has the optical reader, the USB receiver port and the compartment of the 2 AA batteries. According to the manufacturer, these batteries will surely last 3 months.
Connection and operation
Since we are talking about the USB receiver, it can then be stored under the mouse when not in use. It allows the mouse to work with PC or Mac to create a 2.4 GHz wireless connection, RF GFSK modulation, 80 channels, which allows an effective range of more than 10 meters.
Note that 10 meters is not bad. Especially because this can be an excellent accessory to pair with your SmartTv and this operating distance is more than enough.
In terms of the sensor, the MUSW-ERGO-01 uses optical technology. It works well even on my glass table, unlike laser technology. It has three levels of optical resolution: 800, 1200, 1600 DPI.
- Wireless technology: 2.4 GHz, RF GFSK modulation, 80 channels, 32-bit device ID
- Operating distance: up to 10 meters
- Power class: RF power 3 dBm (max. EIRP)
- Type of internal antenna; antenna gain in dBi (typical): 2 dBi ± 1 dBi
- Optical resolution: 800, 1200, 1600 DPI selectable by button
- Power supply: 2 AA batteries (not included)
- Power consumption: 1.5 V DC, up to 15 mA
- Nano receiver: USB 1.1 compatible, weight 2 g, 6 x 14 x 18 mm
- Mouse: dimensions 95 x 65 x 36 mm, net weight 84 g (without batteries)
- Operating conditions: -5… 45 degrees Celsius, 10-80% humidity
In this chapter there is not much else to mention. Everything revolves around ergonomics, which is excellent. Highlight for the smoothness of the mouse in the fitting with the thumb flexor muscle pad.
There are two buttons next to the thumb, which are the navigation buttons. These allow you to go backwards or forwards in the browsed pages. In addition, above, there is another button. This is used to change the optical resolution between 800, 1200 or 1600 dots per inch (DPI).
If the mouse is inactive, 8 minutes later, it will go into pause mode and hang up. In addition to saving equipment, it saves in your pocket, giving more life to batteries.
This is a mouse that changes the traditional concept of using this device. In fact, we are facing the best way to use the mouse, although it goes against the canons of the genesis of this input accessory.
Now, it has less successful access to the navigation buttons, it doesn’t fit a left-hander and the fat on the fingers is pronounced. This is not at all a reason to overshadow professional precision, good looks with elegant design, distinctive button sounds, well-defined scroll wheel and careful energy management. In the future, the USB receiver may also be dispensed, just as the rug has been.
So, we are talking about a set of excellent features for less than 20 euros is worth taking advantage of.
