Apple is preparing the launch of its iPhone 12, which, as usual, should occur in September, even with the implications of the pandemic. This year with an interesting novelty, in addition to the usual models. Apple is expected to launch a 5G model.
The availability of the iPhone models happens, as a rule, a few days to follow, but the 5G model may arrive later. Apple doesn’t comment, neither does Qualcomm … but it leaves the doubt in the air.
A “delay in the global launch of a flagship 5G range”
The possibility of a delay in the launch of the new Apple smartphones is not new. It is not expected that there will be a delay in the presentation event, which should happen during the month of September. However, contrary to what has happened, the iPhone 12 5G may not be available soon in the same month.
It was through Qualcomm’s last quarter earnings report that there is an indication that there will be “a partial impact of the delay in the global launch of a top 5G range” for the following quarter.
The information is not explicit, but some analysts suggest that this statement may be related to Apple smartphones. It should be noted that, after a period of backsliding, due to patent disputes, Qualcomm will supply 5G chips to Apple for the new iPhones.
In addition, according to some previous indications, the production of the iPhone 11 5G may be slightly delayed, which may also cause a delay in its availability.
iPhone 11 5G with “a little delay”
Without referring to any particular model, Qualcomm’s chief financial officer, Akash Palkhiwala, told Reuters that it was just “a little delay”. Thus, the units that should arrive later this quarter, in September, will be launched in the following quarter.
It remains to wait until September to see if there will be a delay in the availability of the iPhone 11 or any of the 5G versions.
