In the segment of Linux distributions there are offers for all needs. In this segment we can find distributions for servers, for desktops, for mini PCs, for devices in the area of Internet of Things, etc.
The Linux Lite distribution has earned our attention! It is a much lighter and faster Ubuntu. Find out what's new in version 5.0.
It is called Lite and as the name suggests it is a compact distribution in terms of software and also in terms of the graphic environment.
The latest version of Linux Lite (version 5.0), with the codename Emerald, is based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and brings as a graphical environment the little Xfce. As a main novelty, this new version brings support for UEFI. Can see on here how it all works.
Another highlight is the transparency of the distribution. According to the authors, this distro has no hidden telemetry mechanism.
The GUFW firewall has been replaced by FireWallD (it is disabled by default). This new tool is much more intuitive and has good documentation.

Despite having the word “Lite” in its designation, this distribution occupies 1.5 GB. You can install it natively on a machine, resort to virtualization, or create a bootable USB PEN.
With the passage of time and the acquisition of new PCs, we keep our oldest PC in the attic, in the garage or in a hidden place at home. That box already with a little rust, a monitor still CRT, a keyboard already half dirty and even a mouse with a ball. If you have one of these machines, dust it off and install Linux Lite 5.0.
