To carry out border controls, SEF uses an app that has already enabled more than 75,000 border controls to be carried out efficiently and without physical contact.
It is an innovative app, which was designed by the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) and implemented by Present Technologies.
SEF Mobile – the innovative app for border controls
The app's objective is to respond to the need for faster and more efficient border controls, imposed by the entry into force of new European legislation. Initially focused on air and sea borders, land border control, imposed due to the pandemic COVID-19, created a new need.
Erica Santos, SEF Inspector and responsible for operationalizing the solution on the ground, says that…
SEF Mobile has become an essential tool to substantially increase the efficiency and safety of SEF inspectors at the country's various land border posts.
In a simple and effective way, it allows to read and validate the data of a varied set of identification documents, without any need for handling them by the inspectors
According to information sent to Pplware, one month after the launch of the first version of aapp, more than 75,000 citizens have been controlled at land borders without any physical contact.
